Happy New Year!
Boy, oh boy! Was 2023 a year or WHAT? The staff here at SSI enjoyed a great holiday season filled with family and friends, hopefully you did too. We released our new 2024 Release software in early December, and if you have not yet installed the Release…DO IT! Take advantage of all the updates and enhancements that were made during 2023.
And 2024 has certainly been busy so far! Deadlines for 1099s, W2s, reporting for year-end financials, Well History Profit and Loss, just to name a few things for which you’re responsible at this time of year. Like you, we’re running fast and hard, doing everything WE can to make YOUR job EZier!
(Insert shameless plug here…)
You got questions? How-tos? We’re here to help! SSI has great instructions for 1099 and W2 processing, year-end reporting and processing, along with anything else you might need. In case you missed it, CheckLists for just about everything can be found in SSI. Check out the Help tab on the main SSI menu (top of the screen), and CheckLists from the drop-down. Along with CheckLists for normal cycle processing (Check-writing, AP Workflow, Month-End closing processing), notice also a Year-End folder containing 1099 instructions, payroll tax tables, and year-end checklists. Combined with our HelpDesk for additional questions, you’re home free for year-end!
Let’s talk SSI View!
SSI View is something that quite literally EVERY. SINGLE. SSI. client uses ALL. THE. TIME. Through the years, SSI View has been honed and refined to provide optimal assistance for the needs of our users. And this simple option is no exception.
Today’s discussion centers on a cool feature in SSI View that you may have overlooked or never knew. And it can make YOUR job EZier by making it EZier to see and read across the lines of information in SSI View. Let’s face it – none of us are getting any younger, and anything we can do to make the screen easier to see is a bonus.
An exercise
Run a report to SSI View. Doesn’t matter what, a GL01P – Chart of Accounts, or an AP04C – Open Payables List, just anything. Once in SSI View, there are all kinds of icons and options across the tool bar at the top of the screen.
Select Settings from the top tool bar. The drop-down box displays several options – of which we have Display Bold Headings (one up from the bottom). If it’s not checked, click it. You’ll notice the report headings are now instantly bolder and easier to see. It’s really noticeable in the Well History reporting, bolder headings for Well Number, Well Name, Oil/Gas Income, Taxes, etc. The Company Name and Report Name, among other things, just POP out to make it easier and quicker to review reports at a glance.
That’s all! That’s it! It’s that easy to customize your SSI Viewer so that it works especially for YOU.
Worth honorable mention.
Display Alternate Row Highlighting Format. It’s the last option on the Settings drop-down. And no, you do NOT have to be over 50 to use this option. The youngsters can take advantage of it too! It is also instantaneous, click it and see the difference. This, combined with the Bold Headings in SSI View, make it so much easier to read reports on the screen, across a line and at a glance.
It's ESPECIALLY great for legal/landscaped reports, such as WHD11, LM10, etc! Since the row width is almost twice as wide as portrait from the left margin it is MUCH easier to read across the lines.
Wanna have a little fun??
Bold Headings and Alternate Rows don’t have to be an old boring gray. Still in SSI View? Select Preferences from the top tool bar. See the Color Selections tab at the top of the sub-dialog screen? Yup…there are ALL KINDS of color choices for both Alternate Row Highlighting Format, Bold Headings and also for text, etc.
Go ahead! Knock yourself out! We even included a Reset button (lower right) so you can start all over.
So here we are, in the new year of 2024.
And we’re already working on enhancements to make YOUR job EZier. Do you have ideas? Suggestions on things that can make YOUR job EZier? Let us know! We’d love to have your input.
